I {heart} Procrastination

It's that time again, where I procrastinate making Valentines, but just can't bear buying the boxed ones at the stores, so I stay up all night putting them together last minute. Repeated year after year, but in the end it usually feels worth it somehow. This year's torture...

Cupid's arrow design downloaded from here via How About Orange

Instead of inserting the pencil, Isaak decided he'd rather give his friends his very favorite treat, chocolate covered pretzels. He had fun helping me dip the pretzel rods in melted chocolate and sprinkling them to his heart's content. Then we just slipped them inside cellophane bags found at Michael's.

Jonah's class has been learning about the human body recently, hence the anatomical heart found here. The licorice strips are reminiscent of veins and arteries as per Jonah's imagination. I like that both of these designs are a little more masculine for my little boys. Ribbons and lace just weren't going to cut it for their pint size reputations on campus.

Calling All Super Heroes

{click photo to enlarge}
My son has been planning this super hero party with me for a few weeks now for his 5th birthday. Everything he and his brother talk about is pretty much all Batman and villains and "Hey look! I can lift this chair with one arm!" So when I took Isaak over to my sister's house to jump on her trampoline for some action hero photo ops, he didn't have much trouble getting into character. It was pretty time consuming going through all the images and choosing my favorite for this image. Then I transformed it into what I thought looked like comic book pop art using Photoshop. I was so pleased with the way it turned out that I took the same image and blew it up into a 20x30 poster for his room. You can see the poster and other photos from the party here.

Save the Date

So, she said she was planning on just sending a Save the Date text, or email, out to everyone  since the wedding was only 3 weeks away. The least I could do was create a little something to send via cell. phone, or the world wide web, that went along with the electronic data messaging theme. I actually saw this idea on a cookie and decided it was perfect and tried to create something similar. I suppose some other generations may not understand the whole "status update," but my 83 year old grandma is not one of them. We are totally Facebook friends!

Cheers

{click photo to enlarge}
This is the Thank You card I gave to Eden's Mad Tea Party guests. I took the picture to the right and edited the #1 onto the cup then simply wrote cheers on the inside. It's not rocket science, but thanks to my obliging subject it turned out pretty cute accompanying a place setting from the party filled with sugar cubes.

A Very, Merry Un-Birthday Party

{click photo to enlarge}
This invite was for my baby girl's first birthday party. I'm not exactly sure how long I've been waiting to do an Alice in Wonderland themed party, but I do know it's been long before my Edie ever existed.

More party pictures and details on my family blog coming soon!

All Heart

they tell me that this sweet little boy only has half a heart, but you'd never know it from the outside.

this picture says to me, you can cut me open and stick with your tubes, but i'm still gonna have fat cheeks and placid eyes.

he's scheduled for his next big surgery in just a few days and i'm sure baby ethan wouldn't mind just a few more prayers.

Bury My Heart at the Trailer Park

I love this trailer park sign in Pine, AZ. Unlike the nearby Golden Acres Mobile Manor, a "manufactured home and recreational vehicle community," this place requires no euphemisms. We're a plain ole trailer park and proud of it.

I'm not mocking, it is a nice trailer park. I'd live there myself, if it wasn't for the crotchety lady, who I assume was managerial staff, who chased us off their lawn by turning on the sprinklers.

Pipe Dreams

I have had a long standing pipe dream of becoming a fantastic photographer someday. Sometimes my family and friends indulge me in this fantasy and let me make-believe I am. So, I did this "photo shoot" a couple days ago showcasing these girls' mommies' crafts: the tutus-by Heather, the jewelry-by Annie, the hair accessories-by Chunky Monkey, and of course the gorgeous hair-by Paris Layne Salon. I think some of the photos came out pretty super cute, but I can't take all the credit, it was my subjects who made it so easy.
